Today is National Coffee Day, aka a holiday for me. This past summer I bought my first Nespresso machine and it has changed my life! Having a latte every morning (that tastes like it came from an actual barista) is my favorite part of the day.
To celebrate this, and for a throwback to my days traveling Europe (craving some wanderlust here), below are my top 5 favorite coffee shops I visited during my travels!
- Halfcup, Kings Cross, London
This cafe right down the street from Kings Cross Station and St Pancras was one of my favorites, and I came here all the time! Their coffee is not only amazing, but it is fairly priced, and their sourdough toast with eggs and avocado are to die for.
- Farm Girl Cafe, Kensington, London
Farm Girl Cafe is not only famous for being on Portobello Road (down the street from William and Kate), but their all natural, San Francisco-esque cafe has the best menu. Personal favorites include their Lavender Latte and Rose Latte, in which the milk is infused with real Lavender extract and Rose petals, respectively.
- SAID Coffee, SOHO, London
Founded in Rome, this coffee shop has various locations across Europe. They are known for drenching their coffee and espresso mugs in warm white, milk, and dark chocolate, before layering in the espresso and milk. This is not a drill (see photo for validation).
- The Elephant House Cafe, Edinburgh, Scotland
Elephant House Cafe is most known for being the cafe where JK Rowling wrote the Harry Potter series, and where she gained much of her inspiration for the story. The cafe backs up to a graveyard where the real Tom Riddle is buried. The town itself also inspired the look of Hogwarts, and is where the real Diagon Alley is (and where it was filmed for the movies!). The cafe itself has not lost its touch since becoming famous, and has the best mocha I’ve ever had.
- Flat White, SOHO, LondonDubbed as creating the original Flat White in London, Flat White is the cutest cafe and has a great atmosphere for doing some work or just relaxing.
While these are some of my favorites, I visited so many amazing coffee shops during my travels. Honorable mentions include Baresso in Copenhagen (literally a pint of latte), The Gentlemen Baristas (best designs), and Hubbard and Bell (coolest vibe). Happy National Coffee Day!
