Making the Move

So it has been a while since I last wrote a blog post. My only excuse was that prepping my move, driving across the country, and getting situated took up pretty much all of my time. I never realized how much stuff I had in my little bedroom back home until I was forced to put it all into boxes, and saying goodbye (temporarily) to some lifelong friends was beyond difficult. I have known for a while that I was moving across the country (from Chicago to the Bay Area), but it doesn’t really hit you until it already happens.

Most of my childhood friends are still in Chicago, with one really good friend in Boston. All in all though it has been a pretty exciting time!

The drive from Chicago to SJ was crazy but fun! Dylan and I got a lot of bonding time being in the car for a week straight :). The last day of our trip we decided to spend the day at the beach at Lake Tahoe and it was definitely needed! I can’t remember the last time I was able to just lay at the beach, read my book, and not worry or care about anything.

Our apartment is slowly coming together and starting to feel more home-y. Eventually I want to post some pictures of our apartment and how was are trying to make it very us. For now, feel free to look at my Pinterest boards, which I took a lot of inspiration from. We are renting our apartment (obviously) so I don’t know how realistic some of my bigger apartment dreams will be, so some of those (like my white subway tiles) might have to wait.

I started my job and it has been amazing so far! Everyone in my cohort is super nice and friendly, and I have become really good friends with one woman in my cohort. Making friends as an adult is hard though, so if anyone knows of easy-going people in the Bay Area, please hit me up!

Tomorrow for Labor Day, Dylan and I are going to Muir Woods to get some much needed fresh air! Have a good Labor Day weekend!
