2016 was definitely one to remember! I lived in London for 4 months and got to travel to some of the most breathtaking cities in the world (and learned so much about myself), received one of the best internship experiences I could have hoped for, and signed for a full-time job with Cisco after graduation!
Everyone always asks me, how do you do it? Why is it so easy for you? And I have to say, none of this is easy, and anyone who tells you it is is lying. Interviewing and deciding where I wanted to start my career was one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make. Coming back to America with a redefined life goal was terrifying. And preparing for a new job in a new city with new people is going to be another challenge as well.
I hate New Years resolutions because most of the time they never end up working, but I do believe in goals. One of my goals for 2017 is to push myself to be challenged, and then work towards exceeding that challenge. When I was in Europe, I learned that I put myself in new situations, get comfortable, and then stop challenging myself in that area. In order to move forward in my career, I need to change my mindset and be challenged, but have the goal being to exceed that challenge.
In 2017 I am also going to use this blog more often as an outlet for myself so we will see where that ends up 🙂
Finally, as a little aside, I am recently finished reading Tina Fey’s autobiography and it was hands down one of the funniest books I’ve ever read.
I hope everyone has a Happy New Year!!
